APRIL SOCIAL RUN

The last llandrindodlife social run was held on February 19th. This was a highly successful event with many different people from within the community coming together for a little trot around the town.

As expected, there were some experienced runners who attended who have been pounding the streets around Llandrindod Wells for a few years. There were also some ladies from the local very successful 'Just Move; Walk to Run' group which meets every Monday night and has over 200 signed up members! Nevertheless, there were also some newbie runners who came along to this social run and it was truly amazing and rewarding to witness them running further than they ever have before!

As this was such a successful event, I have decided to organise more frequent llandrindodlife social runs.

The next social run will be on April 8th. Like the February event; meet at Llandrindod Wells Lake for a 10am start.

What: LLANDRINDODLIFE SOCIAL RUN

When: Saturday 8th April 2017

Where: Meet at Llandrindod Wells Lake for a 10am start

Route: Approx 4/5 miles on the roads around the town. Everyone runs together with planned stops and chances to regroup. No one will be left behind!

Free event but donations always welcome (Look out for the yellow donation box)

Enjoy a yummy 9Bar after the run!

I hope lots of people will come to this event and use the sport of running to become healthy and active whilst having fun getting to know different people from within the community.

All that's left to say is after reading this I would be grateful if you could please tell people about this event. Tell your friends, tell your family, tell a stranger you see running down Middleton Street! Please also share on social media to help spread the word. This is always very much appreciated!

I look forward to running with you all on April 8th!

And so, I think you can all join me in the agreement 2016 was indeed a special year for Llandrindod Wells. Looking through the list above clearly shows the town is on an upward trend and the past year was a massive year of growth for the community. It is a pleasure to be a part of this thriving community and I am proud of what everyone has achieved this past year. Who knows what the future may hold but it is certainly fair to say that the future of this town is bright. There is clearly much more to come as development is an ongoing process that doesn't happen over night but the community is coming back to life stronger than ever before. Let's make 2017 another successful year for Llandrindod Wells.

2016 was also the year that this llandrindodlife blog launched with the aim of showing people and helping the community realise why Llandrindod Wells is such a great place to live. On the blog there were posts featuring some thriving local businesses such as HappyHomeGiftCo and Junk n Disorderly and also some posts focused on community events such as Llandrindod Theatre Company's performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

These posts created lots of attention and it was lovely to get so much positive feedback and comments from people in the community.

Now looking ahead to what will happen to this llandrindodlife blog in 2017. This year is going to be a new start for the blog. New year is all about new beginnings and this year I will be bringing new energy to the community blog. I will do this by blogging more frequently about local events that I attend with the aim to raise the profile of the town's events to the wider community and even to people outside of Powys who read the posts and become interested in the town.

I am also looking to blog more frequently about different businesses, shops, cafes etc. within the town. The posts I did last year were highly successful and I hope to build on this. So... If you are a local business, tourist attraction, service, shop etc and wish to be featured on the blog, please do get in contact. I am really looking forward to writing more blog posts about the businesses, shops and services we are so lucky to have here in Llandrindod so naturally I am eagerly awaiting people's responses. If you would like to get in contact with me, you can email me directly or use the contact form to the left side of this blog post. I do not want to charge for this service however, I would appreciate donations to enable me to further my running ambitions; the key here is flexibility and I would be happy to help out local businesses in return for example by making some of my time available to them. I am aiming to publish a post weekly about either an event, business or attraction in the community.

If your business, shop, service etc. were to be featured on this blog then your service will be reaching the wider community. I am helping people to understand what unique service you offer. This hopefully means your business will be boosted. Also, your service will not just be reaching people in the community but people all over the world as I share the blog posts on my personal social networking sites where I have followers that I know through the sport of running based in the USA, Canada, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Turkey, New Zealand, Italy, Australia and beyond. So you see Llandrindod is being put on the map!

In 2017 there will also be more llandrindodlife community running events organised. These will range from the llandrindodlife children's running group, social runs, one to one training sessions and lots more. Stay up to date with these on the llandrindodlife Facebook page.

You can watch the GoPro footage of the first llandrindodlife social run here to whet your appetite for what will happen in 2017.

Through the sport of running, I get to travel to some pretty amazing places around the world. Nevertheless, it's always a pleasure to return back to Mid Wales and run my local routes around Llandrindod Wells. My passion for this part of the world will never die and I hope you can share this feeling and be a part of this journey to demonstrate to everyone that we live in a town we should ALL be proud of.

Llandrindod Wells – the future of the town is in our hands. I look forward to working with all of you in the local community to enhance #llandrindodlife

EXCITING THINGS ARE ON THE WAY (Part 2)

Hello again Llandrindod people!

I hope you enjoyed part 1. Here's part 2 of my blog posts explaining all the exciting things that are going to be happening with this llandrindodlife initiative

llandrindodlife children's running group

Most of you reading this will know I'm an international runner, having run for Wales and Great Britain. I still have many many hopes and dreams of what I want to achieve in the sport but I would not have got where I am today if it wasn't for the town of Llandrindod Wells and the people within the community who have helped me along my journey.

I believe now it is time to start giving back to the town. Time to start giving back to the sport and to help to inspire others to become involved in running.

I will be starting a running group for the children of Llandrindod Wells and the surrounding area. I want to help children discover their love for running like I did when I was younger.

The sessions will be open for children age eight and over and will run every Wednesday evening 4pm-5pm meeting at the lake on the grass behind the cafe. The first session will begin on 27th July. There's no need to book, just turn up.

The sessions will cost £2 per child and will include a range of fun games, relays, lots of running and a chance for children to build friendships whilst having fun.

I hope children will come along to have fun and be inspired no matter what their ability.

Look out for posters around the town. I am looking forward to helping more children in Llandrindod Wells become involved with running.

llandrindodlife social runs, training sessions, workshops etc...

This one is more for the adults of the town but children are welcome along too. (Providing they are accompanied and supervised at all times by an adult) I know there are lots of runners in the community and it's great to see local club runners out training. I would love to share my knowledge of running and experience in the sport with the community

I am going to be doing this through one off training sessions, social runs, some specific work shops and lots more exciting things. Everyone and anyone will be welcome and I look forward to helping to get even more of the community running.

Some of these runs and sessions will be entirely free, however donations towards my running career will be gratefully accepted. (Look out for the yellow donation box!) Others will be formally structured and will carry a small charge.

To kick this all off, there will be a llandrindodlife social run on Saturday 6th August which will be approximately 7/8 miles.

Meet at the Bandstand on Temple Gardens for a 3pm start

The route will be both on road and off road so I advise some sort of trail shoe. There will be uphills, there will be downhills and there may even be some mud too!

The aim is that we all have fun running in the stunning natural area around the town. It is not a race; there is no competition. Everyone will be there to enjoy themselves, meet new people and socialise. I hope as many people as possible will join me and I look forward to running with you all.

Look out for more information about events like this around the town and on social media in the near future! I have lots of ideas planned and can not wait to get started!

llandrindodlife Facebook page

So seeing as all this is kicking off rather nicely, I thought it was about time I made a Facebook page to help promote the blogs, to help notify people of the next running session, event, workshop etc. and also to help promote other events in the town.

If you could go and give this page a 'like', thumbs up or whatever you want to call it, that would be great.

The llandrindodlife social runs, workshops, training sessions etc will be created as an event on this page so keep your eyes peeled. I will also blog about each event and there will be posters around the town to help get the message out there

If you are organising an event within the town, please do let me know about it as I will help with the promotion on this blog, on the Facebook page and also on Twitter

If you're a local business, shop, service etc and would like to be featured on the blog, please get in contact! You can read the previous blog post for more details.

That's all for now. I hope you're all as excited as I am about these developments and I'm looking forward to meeting the community for these events!

If you have any questions, queries or ideas please do not hesitate to get in contact with me.
